The future is a scary thing for almost everyone, especially college students. As a fellow college student in my second semester of junior year, I know the ultimate stress of trying to figure out your life and what it will hold. I know of the big questions about where you’ll live, where you’ll work, and how successful you will be. It all seems so absolutely terrifying, but I have come up with a few ways you can prepare for your future.
Obviously, no one can really prepare for their future. You never know what might happen in your life. You could end up being stationed in a town away from where you imagined you would work in. You might end up in another state completely. You might not work for the company you thought you would work for, or you might even end up not having the income/schedule you thought you would. Let’s face it, your future is a destined one that you are walking into, blind.
One way to prepare for the unexpected abyss of your future is to create savings. A savings will help you to be prepared for what might come. If you save up a comfy amount of money, you can maintain a stable life no matter where you end up. This will also give you peace of mind to know that you are covered in an emergency or spur of the future life.
Another way you can prepare to plan for the future is to make general plans. Nothing too specific, just a general idea of where you would like to live and work. This gives you a goal to reach for and motivation to get there. Keeping it from becoming too specific is how you can keep yourself from getting too disappointed if everything doesn’t go according to plan. This feeds in with the savings plan. Without it, you could very well end up with the raw end of the stick. With this said, get a savings account, get out a bullet journal, and save away, prepare, plan. Motivation breeds success. With a safety net to catch you, you won’t be afraid to fall.
