The After Series By Anna Todd

Hello and welcome to this week’s blog post. If you are new to my blog, then be sure to browse through the tabs on my page to see what else you might be interested in. If you are a returning reader, then welcome back.

This week I am giving my review of the After series by Anna Todd. I read the entire series in a week and a half, which is the fastest I have ever read a series since I read The Mortal Instruments series in 2014. The main characters are so relatable. I honestly felt more connected to Tessa Young than I have ever felt with any other character. She loves to organize, she doesn’t have a clear since of personal style, and loves books.

For those who don’t know, this book is about a girl named Tessa Young and a British bad boy named Hardin Scott. They both attend WCU where they both major in English. They both very quickly develop a banter and a fast pace relationship. They face trials of family, school, and messy pasts. They may be opposites but they definitely find a safe space in each other. Be sure to read the book before you see the movie. The movie was very good and made sure to show all of the major scenes, but it lacks the detail to get you invested in the Hessa (Tessa and Hardin). If you read the book first, the movie will complete it very well.

If you read this series, I guarantee you that you will fall in love with this couple very quickly. Tessa and Hardin are extremely easy to root for and very intoxicating. Their back and forth manner is funny and aggravating at the same time. Hardin is Tessa’s opposite. Where she is organization, he is mess, where she is kind, he is arrogant, but somehow they just… fit. There is also something to be said for Anna’s talent as a writer; she keeps you feeling the same as the characters. When Hardin does something profoundly cruel, you are immediately just as mad as Tessa, but as she softens, so do you. And trust me, there is no lack of Tessa and Hardin disagreements and break ups.

Go out and buy your copy of Anna Todd’s After. I promise you won’t be disappointed. You will blink and be done with the series in no time. I hope you enjoyed this week’s post.
