Hello and welcome to this week’s blog post. If you are new to my blog, be sure to visit my page to see what else you might be interested in. If you are a returning reader, welcome back! If you know me, then you know I love to read, so I get excited about new books to dive into. 2020 is going to be a great year for some good reads and I absolutely can not wait to begin!
Darkness On The Edge of Town (Adam Christopher)
For those who don’t know, this book is part of the spinoff Stranger Things novels. This one in particular is based during the first Christmas that Eleven and Hopper (tear) spend together. He tells her about an odd situation he faced when he was a cop in New York City. I love Hopper, so I can not wait to read this. As a Stranger Things fanatic, I am so stoked that they came up with these Stranger Things novels.
The Devouring Gray (Christine Lynn Herman
This is a novel I am very excited about. I was recommended this by the bookstore clerk upon my purchase of the Stranger Things novels. She told me it was similar to Stranger things, but with teens. It is about this town where people go missing and there is a force called the devouring gray that is attacking the town and this group of teenager friends have to solve the mystery. Very similar plot line.
Chain Of Gold (Cassandra Clare)
This could be considered as my most anticipated book to come. If you are a fan of the Shadowhunter novels, then you will also know my excitement. This series will be about those Herondales again. It involves a girl who meets James and Lucie Herondale. We all know that this book will most definitely involve sarcastic remarks and great humor, along with intense action and romance. I can’t wait!
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer (Michelle Hodkin)
This has been a book that I have wanted to read for about five years now. I just bought it last year, but I haven’t gotten to it quite yet. Between other reads, work, and school, its difficult. This book is about a girl named Mara Dyer who wakes up in the hospital with no memory of the accident that caused it. Just my kind of book.
Runaway Max (Brenna Young)
This is another Stranger Things novel. This one is about Max and starts out while she is still living in California and carries out to the end of season two. I think it will be very interesting to learn more about her and see season two through her eyes. Currently, I am reading the other Stranger Things novel which is centered around Eleven’s mom Terri and the experiments. It’s super cool getting to see how she got into the studies and how she got involved with Brennan. It is called Suspicious Minds (Gwenda Bond).
Blood: A Memoir by the Jonas Brothers (Joe, Kevin, and Nick Jonas)
This will obviously be a high anticipated book for me. If you know me then you know that I am OBSESSED with the Jonas Brothers! I can not wait to read a book fully dedicated to their lives, and written by them. I am sure it will cover the same material as the documentary, Chasing Happiness, but I will read it nonetheless.
The Ballads of Songbirds and Snakes (Suzanne Collins)
This is also a very big excitement for me. This book is based on the 10th annual Hunger Games, 64 years before Katniss’ games. I think it will be so interesting to get to see the beginnings of this world, and to see some new characters. I would still love to see a book on Haymitch’s games, but this will definitely keep me busy in the meantime.
Swimming Lessons: Poems (Lili Reinhart)
This is a different kind of book than the others I have mentioned. This is a book of poems written by Lili Reinhart (Betty Cooper from Riverdale, for those who don’t know). I have read poetry by her before on social media, so I know this will be a good read.
A Discovery of Witches (Deborah E. Harkness)
This book is on my list because I really want to watch the show. When I found out there was a book of which it is based on, I knew I had to red it first. Plus, Sasha Alsberg recommended it on her channel and I always trust her judgement since she is the one that introduced me to some of my absolute favorite books (including the ones she wrote).
Brunette Ambition (Lea Michelle)
This book is similar to my reasoning for wanting to read the Jonas Brothers book. I love Lea Michele, and even though this book came out in 2015 (Glee time) I still really want to read it. She gives tips on life, self care, and health. Can’t wait.
I have so many books I am excited to read! I can’t wait to read them and develop my next set of books to read. I hope you enjoyed this week’s post!
