This week, I decided to switch it up a little and give you guys some of my favorite healthy snack options. I am in the process of a diet and exercise routine with my aunt and one of my best friends. I am about 50 pounds from my goal weight, and when I reach it, I will write a post about the steps I took to get there. For now, here are the snacks that are curbing my appetite and helping me in my journey to a better self.
I am a huge fan of apples. Honeycrisps are my absolute favorite and have been a staple at my house since I started this diet. I always make sure I have apples to snack on. They are always good to eat by themselves, but I have been pairing mine with a tablespoon of peanut butter or almond butter. They are high in sugar, so don’t eat too many, but one apple a day will help you keep your cravings away (rhyming not intentional).
These are an absolute must while I diet. You get the relief of munching on something when you get cravings, and they will keep you busy for a while. You almost get the satisfaction of a grape popsicle if you eat them while they are fully frozen. I always put about a cup of grapes to each bag and I will let each grape sit in my mouth and munch on it as it melts. This just keeps me satisfied longer. I lean towards the green grapes more, but the red ones are good as well.
The Atkins milk Chocolate Delight protein shakes are very good, and don’t have that heavy protein powder taste. They basically taste like chocolate milk and are a great way for me to postpone eating anything until my next mealtime. I also like the Special K Rich Chocolate ones as well. The Atkins are just cheaper for me to get at my local grocery store.
These are a new snack to me. I have never really been a huge fan of peppers before I started this diet. I recently bought some orange and yellow peppers since they are the sweeter ones and decided I would slice one into strips. I then made a dipping sauce out of Greek yogurt, lemon juice, and green onion (it tastes just like ranch). It is a really satisfying snack to have. It’s like having chips and dip because of the crunch of the peppers, but way healthier.
These are a recipe I got from Pinterest. They aren’t something I would recommend having on the daily just because they do have oil in them, but they were a great surprise snack to have. They are prepared with the dip I mentioned above. They don’t take long to make at all and the whole thing only takes like 6 or 7 ingredients. They surprised me when I made them because they had the consistency of French fries and were very good. Here is the link to the recipe if you would like to try them out, or the dip.
