This week, I am giving away my tips and tricks on how to create a GYST journal. For those who don’t know, GYST stands for “get your $hi! together.” This is how I keep up with the things that don’t go in my bullet journal. Keep reading if you want to see what I keep in my GYST journal to keep me organized.
This page is where I keep everything I want to accomplish in the current year. This includes book reading goals, savings, fitness, work, lifestyle, and personal growth. I like to keep up with how much money I want to save that year, where I would like to be in my fitness journey, how many Instagram followers I would like to have, how many views I would like to reach on my blog, and anywhere I would like to travel. This could even include things I want to check out with my friends.
BOOKS TO READ/BOOK REVIEWS
You can add in the books you want to read as well as your reviews on those books. I have a similar layout in my bullet journal, but I lay it out like a bookshelf and as I read a book, it gets added to the shelf. With my GYST journal, I keep a list of the books I plan to read and then as I read them, I create a review out of five stars. For instance, I just read The Devouring Gray, so it got “*****” next to it for a 5/5-star rating.
These include things I want to buy and just don’t have the money for right now. They get broken into categories such as clothes, cosmetics, stationary, movies, tv, and home essentials. So, this includes stores I want to shop at, bullet journal supplies, and any apartment things I want to get. This just helps me keep track of everything I am wanting to get once I get the funds.
This one is pretty basic. It just contains the list of everyone I am buying Christmas gifts for and what I am getting for them. It really helps to narrow down how much money to set aside.
This one has become pretty important to me lately. I am on a bit of a weight loss journey and this is the layout where I keep up with my weight loss in pounds as well as measurements on my waist, hips, arms, thighs, and chest. This is also the page where I have a list of rewards for myself. These rewards are my motivation for getting to my target weight. They include things such as a spa day, a shopping day, or buying something I have been wanting but never want to splurge on.
LOOKING FORWARD TO/ GRATEFUL FOR
This page is sort of like a bucket list but with more appreciation. I use this page to talk about things I am looking forward to and this could be things as far as five years from now. It just provides some extra motivation. I also like to list things I am grateful for and gain some gratitude as well.
FAVORITE MOVIES AND BOOKS
This one is more for my own enjoyment than anything else. This is just a fun way for me to keep track of any new movies or books that I love and what to keep track of for future recommendations. I am also just a fan of lists so… yeah.
This is another list moment, but it also helps me stay more organized as well. It helps when I am looking for stuff to do for some self-care as well. I include things like face masks, manicures, watching movies, having a bowl of ice cream, or even FaceTiming someone.
APARTMENT CHECK LIST
This one is pretty simple, and really, it’s just a personal preference. This is the page where I am keeping up with everything that needs to be done between now and moving into a new apartment. It includes things like saving up the money, what needs to be bought, what needs to be packed up, and what needs to be prepared.
SAVINGS TRACKER/ BUDGET
This is another simple thing to add to your GYST journal. I keep an overall savings tracker in my bullet journal of how much I want to have in my savings by the end of the year, but this is where I keep track of what that money will be going towards such as my apartment, Christmas gifts, and travel. I also like to keep up with my monthly budget here which is just a list of where my money is going each month and how much I am allowing myself to spend.
This layout includes my morning and night routine. This again just fits into my list obsession, but also keeps me on track and organized for where my time is going. It has become used more since I have been staying at home a lot due to COVID unemployment.
This is yet another organization tool. It shows what I should be cleaning daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, and yearly. Things like laundry, dusting, vacuuming, and changing my bedding are included in this page.
These are the pages where I keep my running list of bullet journal theme ideas. This covers everything from colors, to tv shows, to seasons, to movies, to holidays. For example, I have blue, summer, Halloween, Outer Banks, and Harry Potter. I also have things like Disney, Marvel, and StarKid.
These are the pages where I am planning for a trip, I would like to take sometime next year hopefully. I have a friend living abroad for three years and I am hoping to get to visit them next year or the next. This is where I am keeping up with ticket prices, food and shopping budgets, and my potential itinerary. I am also keeping up with everything I want to see, everywhere I want to go, and All the places I want to eat. I will also eventually have my flight info, dates, and packing list in this section as well.
