Welcome to Karmen’s Korner! If you are a new reader, be sure to follow my blog to get notifications on future posts. If you are a returning reader, then welcome back. This week, I am discussing my goals for 2021 and how you can make some sustainable goals of your own. I will be discussing how to make SMART goals, what my goals are, and my action plan for conquering them. So, if you are interested in creating sustainable goals you can keep this year, then keep on reading!
Making SMART Goals
Using the acronym SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound) is the first step to creating proper goals. I used this acronym to make sure that my goals for 2021 were specific, trackable, realistic, relevant to me, and had a time stamp. Some specific categories I am tackling this year are life, financial, blog, and health. By breaking these goals down using SMART, I am creating goals I can actually achieve in 2021.
My goals for 2021 are to lose 45 pounds by my beach vacation in June, read 40 books this year, save $5,000 by July, save $10,000 by 2022, and to reach 100 followers on my blog this year. Non-SMART goals would have been me wanting to lose weight, wanting to save money, and wanting to grow my blog. These are broad, they cannot be tracked, they aren’t realistic, they don’t relate back to me, and they have no time limit set.
The Action Plan
SMART goals should come with a plan of attack and how you hope to actually achieve those goals. My plan to achieve losing 45 pounds by June is to complete monthly exercise challenges while eating healthy. My plan for saving money comes with a budget plan, and my blogging goal comes with planned Instagram posts, blogging workshops, and content ideas. I have also created a vision board desktop wallpaper by using Angie Bellemare’s latest video on her vlog channel.
I created my vision board by using the mindset of goals I would like to achieve and goals I would like to work towards this year. For example, I have some London travel photos on my vision board. I will not be traveling to London this year, but I hope to next year. I do, however, have mini goals I would like to tackle this year that pertain to the trip, such as saving up and planning what I would like to do.
