A Guide to Knoxville, TN

If you don’t already know, I live in Tennessee and I live about 30-45 minutes away from Knoxville. This is where I always go to shop and eat out with my friends and family, so I have gotten to know the area pretty well over the past 23 years. So, if you are ever in the area and are in need of places to eat, shop, or entertain, then you should check out some pretty great places. Also, know that this article is specifically about the southern part of Knoxville, not Downtown Knoxville.

Well, Knoxville has a ton of places to eat. From fast food, to casual dining, to fancy dining, you can pick from all food varieties. My favorite places to eat are Olive Garden, Outback, Chili’s, and McAlister’s. These aren’t rare places by any means, but they are always top of my list when eating out in Knoxville. If you do find yourself in the mood for other local options, you can alway grab some wonderful Mexican food at Pelanchos, or some amazing food at The Chop House. If you find yourself in the West Town Mall and need some surprisingly good food court Japanese, then stop by Sarku for some teriyaki shrimp with noodles and yum yum sauce. So good!

Bouncing off of the above options, there are two major places to shop in Knoxville. Those are The West Town Mall and Turkey Creek. They generally have the same stores, but the mall will offer more selections in product. When I go to Turkey Creek, I always hit Ulta, Target, Old Navy, Altar’d State, and Ross. When I go to the mall, I always hit H&M, Sephora, American Eagle, Altar’d State (bigger store), and the odds and ends boutiques. H&M is a new add and was so worth the wait. I have only every been able to shop them online and now I get to see the clothes in person! If you are looking to clothing shop, then I suggest the West Town Mall because there are more stores and bigger versions of the shops also found in Turkey Creek. If you are looking to shop for a little of every variety, then I suggest Turkey Creek since they also have Best Buy, Hobby Lobby, and Buff City Soap Co.

This one is also quite expansive. You can shop, see a movie, eat, bowl, or just about anything else. My favorite place to go with my friends are Main Event, Breakout, and the Regal. Main Event is a huge building with bowling, laser tag, pool, a small restaurant, and an arcade. It isn’t horrible pricing and you can do bundle deals to get to bowl and play laser tag. It is so much fun! Breakout is our favorite of the favorites; we love to go play escape rooms! We have played just about every room and have gotten out all but once, when we played their hardest room (we were three clues from getting out… UGH). The last place on this list is the Regal. You can always attend Regal Cinemas for a quality movie experience (overpriced… but still fun). Specifically, my family and I always love going to the one in the mall, The Cinnebarre. You get to sit in reclining seats and order full meals to your seat for your movie. My favorite thing to get is the pretzel bites and a milkshake.

As you can see, there are loads of places to see and things to do in Knoxville, TN. I can’t specifically speak to Downtown Knoxville because I never really travel past the West Town Mall area unless I am heading to McKay’s. Let me know below if you have ever been in the area and what your favorite thing to do in Knoxville is.
