Today’s post is a fun one! This will be my 100th post and I can’t believe it’s already here. I love that it is happening during Blogtober! With this being a special post, I decided to make it an extra post this week and make it a little different. I thought a fun way to structure this post would be to tell you some fun facts about me. In fact, a very recent fun fact is that I got my first tattoo, which was of course Harry Potter. I got the page stars tattooed to my wrist, and I couldn’t be happier with it. Go see Kat England Tattoos!!!
Books are a huge part of who I am, thus the tattoo. I own over 250 books, and yes, I have actually read over half of them (book worms will know the struggle of this accomplishment). To use one of my favorite quotes, “I live in two worlds, one is a world of books.” – Rory Gilmore. I love escaping to another world, even if it’s just for a little while. We would all love to be soaring through the skies on the back of a dragon, attending balls in fancy dresses, and living out an enemies to lovers storyline.
Film & TV
Those who know me, know that the other world I reside in, is the world of film and television. Certain shows and films remain an obsession in which I want all of the merchandise, and these fictional characters become huge inspirations. Harry Potter is an obvious obsession of mine, but I also live in the Teen Wolf, Grey’s Anatomy, Disney, Marvel, Friends, The Office, and Downton Abbey fandoms. These only being a few of my favorites. These movies and shows contain some of the most iconic fictional characters out there. I definitely channel the Dowager Countess daily.
This is the most important thing about me. I come from a very supportive and close-knit family, so it is easy to see that I also stem from a very supportive and loving environment. Starting with my parents, I couldn’t ask for a better set. They are always coaching me to go for my dreams and strive to be the best I can be. As far as my extended family goes, my cousins are some of my best friends and I wouldn’t be half the person I am today without them.
My friends are often the ones who believe in me before I can believe in myself. They are always boosting me up and making sure I am staying on top of my goals. My support system is the reason I still write on this blog. I love to write, but they keep me from giving up.
Speaking of support system, this is a new one. I recently started working with MuggleNet this year, the #1 Harry Potter fan site, and I have loved every minute of it. These people not only reciprocate my love for the wizarding world, but they also continue to support me in other aspects of life. I love making friends from all over the world and what better way to do so, than a bond over magic and all things Potter?
This category has a lot, but I will only speak to a few absolutely memorable moments. In 2019, I got floor seats to the Jonas Brothers in Nashville. I got to go with one of my best friends and it was one of the most amazing experiences. My hand grazed Joe Jonas’ shoulder. It doesn’t get better than that. In my life, I have been to The Cheetah Girls (all 3 tours), Hannah Montana, ZZ Top, and Neon Trees.
I have also traveled to England and Scotland on a Harry Potter trip. In my freshman year of college, I took a Harry Potter class that concluded with a 9-day trip to England and Scotland to see filming locations, inspirations for the books, and other amazing landmarks. I love love loved this trip and I can’t wait to go back.
Something that I don’t really talk about a lot is my career. I graduated with a degree in Accounting and currently work at a CPA firm. I think people often find this surprising given my hobbies, but I have just always enjoyed working with numbers. In fact, my job all through college was working as a bookkeeper at a local grocery store. The dream would be to write full-time, but hey, something has to pay the bills.
