Rating Halloween Movie Characters

Today’s post is all about my favorite fictional characters in the movies I watch on Halloween. From Halloweentown to Hocus Pocus to The Nightmare Before Christmas, I definitely have my favorites. When it comes to these fictional characters, I either want to be them or a I aspire to be them when I am older. I love these characters so much; from there personalities to their views on the world to their one-liners, I can’t get enough.

10. Jack Skellington

Jack Skellingotn from The Nightmare Before Christmas is just such an iconic character and very complex. He seeks Christmas because he is bored with Halloween, but ends up turning it into Halloween. Go figure. I just love his leadership over the town and his relationship with Sally. And we all love Zero! Jack Skellington is just such a fun and outgoing fictional character and perfect for my list. Without this character, the would be no Nightmare Before Christmas.

9. Thackery Binx

Thackery Binx from Hocus Pocus is one of the best characters in the movie, in my opinion. You can’t go wrong with a talking black cat in a Halloween movie. I just love his neverending devotion to his sister and saving other children. If I was that old, I would be like, you did it, now fix it. He sacrifices himself multiple times to take down the Sanderson sisters and keep the book away from them. His devotion to family and the greater good is what makes him a quality fictional character to admire.

8. Sally

I love Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas so much! She goes through a lot just to help Jack and be free from Dr. Finklestein. She literally poisons him and hurls herself from a tower in order to get free. She even sews herself together like it’s no big deal. Like, what a quality hero. She stole this movie’s spotlight on heroics alone. She even sneaks into Oogie Boogie’s lair to rescue Jack and Santa Clause. Vibrant colors and impeccable patchwork aside, there is a lot to say for this fictional character. The Nightmare Before Christmas would not be as good without Sally.

7. Morticia Addams

Morticia Addams from The Addams Family and Addams Family Values is an ICONIC character. Without her, these movies would be down on most of the humor, they provide the audience. Who else could pull of that dress, makeup, and hair??? I know I couldn’t. Morticia’s outlook on life and marriage with Gomez is so intriguing and humorous. This character is such a mood and often times the one I am in. The scene where she is cutting off the rose buds and keeping the weeds and stems, is a perfect representation of her persona. We love a dark Queen!

6. Aggie Cromwell

Aggie Cromwell from Halloweentown is one of my all-time favorite fictional characters and someone I aspire to be when I am an old lady. Obviously, the witch part might take some hoping and wishing, but I could definitely take on her whimsical nature. I just love her go-with-the-flow attitude and I admire her desire to save the day and keep her family safe. I too will be the grandparent that gives their grandkids stuff in secret from their parents. Aggie marches to the beat of her own drum and owns her odd ways. She is dependable and loyal and just might be a Hufflepuff in nature.

5. Winifred Sanderson

Winifred Sanderson from Hocus Pocus is truly the definition of iconic. Her singing “I Put a Spell on You” is the best scene in the whole movie. This character would leave the film feeling very drab if not involved. Her one-liners are the best lines in the movie. Everything from her hair, to her lipstick, to her front teeth, to her wardrobe just screams iconic. She may be the villain, but she’s the best character in the movie.

“Another glorious morning. Makes me sick!”

4. Alex Fielding

Alex, or Artemis, from Twitches is the superior of the twin witches. From her wardrobe to her ethics, she was the twin that I most related and most admired. I have also been more of a night person and love a good full moon, so her vibe just always matched mine. Just from this picture alone, I love the look. For those of you who are fans of the Twitches movies, did you know Fielding was her last name? Because I never did before I looked it up for this post.

3. Coraline Jones

Coraline Jones from Coraline is one of my absolute favorites. This is mainly due to the fact that Coraline is my favorite movie to watch at Halloween. I love this character and the arc she goes through. She is definitely a lot braver than me and a lot smarter than me. I don’t think I would have had the guts or the wits to challenge the Other Mother. And again, we come back to the love of a talking black cat. We all need that sidekick in our lives.

2. Wednesday Addams

Wednesday Addams from The Addams Family and Addams Family Values is another iconic fictional character from a Halloween movie. Her attitude and overall persona is such a mood and I absolutely adore her. My favorite moment is the scene pictured where she sets fire to the play and stage in Addams Family Values. Just wow.

1. Marnie Piper

Marnie Piper from Halloweentown is my absolute favorite fictional character from a Halloween movie. I have always loved these movies, and a large part of why is this character. In fact, I never watch the fourth film, Return to Halloweentown, because they changed actresses and I always thought the original was better. Her willingness to protect everyone from evil and embrace the obstacles thrown in her way is very inspiring. If I could find this robe, I would definitely be Marnie for Halloween.
