30 Journal Prompts for The New Year

The new year is upon us and now is the time to develop some new habits. Journaling has always been a great stress release for me, and a great way to get your problems out of your head and down on paper. Try these journaling prompts to get a kick start on the new year.

  1. What are your top three main goals you plan to achieve this year?
  2. Three goals for this month.
  3. How are you planning to tackle your goals this year?
  4. Write about one goal you hope to conquer this year and your game plan.
  5. What are some small changes you can make this year?
  6. What are some exciting things coming up this year?
  7. What is your favorite activity to reduce stress?
  8. What shows/movies do you plan on bingeing this year?
  9. How do you plan to hold yourself accountable for your goals?
  10. Make a playlist with your favorite songs and write about why they are your favorites. Do they make you happy? Help you vent? Let you dance it out?

  1. If this is your first time journaling, what do you hope to gain from it? If this is not your first time, what do you gain from it?
  2. Make a list of 10 affirmations you can repeat to yourself every day in order to stay on top of your goals.
  3. What is your favorite quote of all time? Why is it your favorite? Does it make you feel inspired? How can you use it to complete your goals?
  4. What is one thing you will do differently this year? This can be anything as simple as Christmas shopping earlier or reading more.
  5. What is something that could cause your goals to falter? How can you avoid it?
  6. What are you most grateful for in your life right now?
  7. Write about a time you were proud of yourself.
  8. Write a letter to yourself forgiving yourself of self-doubt and guilt over not completing goals in the past. Today is a new day. A fresh start.
  9. What is your dream life? What steps can you take now to put you in the direction of that dream life?
  10. Write a letter to your comfort character.

  1. Make this a manifestation entry and write in statements of “I am,” “I will,” or “I will not.”
  2. Write about your support system and how they support you.
  3. Make a list of some rewards you will give yourself for meeting your goals.
  4. Who is your current inspiration? Why?
  5. If you had three wishes, what would you ask for?
  6. What’s something you can watch over and over and never get tired of? Why?
  7. What is your Hogwarts house? Look up the traits for that house and write why you embody that house and how those traits fit you.
  8. What are your goals for next month?
  9. What are the best three things that happened to you this week?
  10. What is something positive that has happened this month?
